Treatment For Children

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children should have first orthodontic appointment at age of 7 years.

It is the transitional stage where child is in mixed dentition stage. If some orthodontic mal-occlusion is diagnosed at the early age, it is better to correct it with orthodontic treatment before the worsening the severity later the age of 7 years.

It was old saying that, until you get the all permanent teeth erupted, orthodontic treatment cannot be proceeded. But with the recent advances and latest research, the preventive orthodontics should be carried out in the mixed dentition period for the correction of mal-occlusion such as anterior non-overlapp of the teeth and jaw corrections such as growth modifications.

Hence the proper timing and expert advice of orthodontist is essential for the growing children with mal-occlusion.

The metal braces are made from stainless steel alloy that is biocompatible with oral environment

Ceramic braces

These are also called as esthetic or clear braces in lay man’s language. These braces are made from the ceramic material, i.e. tooth colored material which is virtually invisible on patients teeth.

There are two variants depending on material, the monocrystalline and polycrystalline. These wont discolored or stain the teeth. The patients who are esthetically concern, may choose these brackets.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are committed to inside surface of the teeth from toungue’s side, unlike traditional braces which are fixed to the outside of the teeth. With the braces positioned on the inner surface, it makes them practically invisible and provides cosmetic orthodontic treatment without the disruption of typical braces.
